For the tourism sector, the achievement of 2012 is not only seen from the increase in the amount of 8 million tourist target, but also the quality and the quality of foreign tourists as well as the provision of employment, a good value investment.
In his explanation Mari Elka Pangestu said foreign exchange earnings of the tourism sector is expected to reach 9.07 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.03 percent compared to the year 2011 amounted to 8.55 billion U.S. dollars.
This year spending tourists reached 1133.81 dollars to individual tourist, up 1.39 percent compared to the year 2011 amounted to 1118.26 dollars.
"Things need to be underlined by the growth of foreign tourists rose 5 percent in October 2012 compared to last year, meaning that higher-than-expected global growth is expected to rise 3-4 percent in 2012," said Mari Elka Pangestu.
Meanwhile, domestic tourists (wisnus) occurred in 2012 estimated 245 million trips wisnus or 3.81 percent compared to the year 2011 as many as 236 million trips.
Wisnus trip hike brings positive impact on spending wisnus that this year the number is estimated at Rp 171.5 trillion, up 9.3 percent compared to the year 2011 amounted to Rp 156.89 trillion.
Increased spending wisnus besides the increasing number of trips is also due to increase in average spending reached Rp 700 thousand, up 5.63 percent compared to the year 2011 amounted to USD 662.68 thousand per trip per person which reflects the rising middle class in Indonesia.
